The Origin of South Florida Ice Cream Trucks

Owner Keith Bonenfant and his best friend saw an ad in a local newspaper when they were 16 years old to rent out an ice cream truck for $400 a week in Fairfield County CT. After attending the seminar both went to both sets of parents asking for money to start the coolest summer job. Both parents claimed they were crazy to rent a 1970's beat up truck for such a high price per week plus money for gas and plus additional money for product.

2 seasons later the truck rental company sold their business and the two spent all of their savings and invested and built a scooped ice cream truck. 1 week after the truck was completed the truck went back to a local plumber to resolder the water tank. Overnight the plumbers shop caught on fire and half of the truck burned down. Both struggled but managed to get the truck back on the road after many repairs.

With the blink of an eye, together built a fleet of 6 ice cream trucks, and built an ice cream store. Soon after parting ways, Keith Bonenfant went around all of New England to aquire a fleet and team of trucks, now being Connecticut's largest network of ice cream trucks. Both Keith and another team member custom built a walk-in freezer at their depot in Stratford, CT; wholesaling to the Public.

After over 10 seasons of the long boring winters in Connecticut, Keith decided to expand the business to Miami- South Florida Region. One of the factory built 1973 Ice Cream Trucks was shipped down to Hallandale, FL. The website was formed and knowledge of catering and sales has launched a so far success: South Florida Ice Cream Trucks.

Our truck is known as being "Miami's cutest ice cream truck", "the vintage-classic truck". "a memory of the north when the good humor man came around".

Birthday parties and touch-a-truck events are a big hit so far, and nothing beat the looks, services and pricing to custom vinyl wrap the vehicle for the recent Diet Pepsi and Paul Van Dyk Marketing Promotion. Currently now working with Nicki Minaj to promote her new album release.
